About Hogla, Sari & Basket Weaving
Hogla plant is a sustainable material that occurs in nature. It is a local bush-like small plant in Bangladesh and often found along the Sundarbans banks of rivers and canals. The Sundarbans is a tidal halophytic mangrove forest located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh.
The leaves of Hogla plant are dried to convert into strips or fibres. These are then hand-braided and weaved into beautiful functional baskets such as this set.
Sari is a colourful garment for women for centuries. Upcycling saris reincarnates these beautiful fabrics into eco-chic fashion accessories like the handles of these baskets.
