Aksa is Turning 4 (in 2024 year)!

A word from our founder, Aditi

4 years ago during the first COVID-19 lockdown, I expressed my desire to do something creative and something that gives back to society, with my husband, Susheel. He was supportive as always and suggested exploring the home decor industry. I loved his idea as it meant that I could work with Indian artisans and create irrepressible pieces that would be well-loved. We took a few weeks to decide our way forward and the name of our small business - Aksa (Hindi word, meaning "Soul").
 
I am so proud and happy of our journey so far. Below is a timeline of Aksa. Thank you for being part of our story.

The Timeline

 
2020 - Idea turned into an online shop. Countless suppliers, trials, ideations, and laying of our foundation as future "fair traders". Stocked in our living room! 1st order in our 1st week was a huge boost to our morale 🎬
 
2021 - A big achievement: Fair Trade endorsement. More products. Professional Photoshoots & Organic press coverages 🌏 
 
2022 - More orders to new artisan producers. Videos showing behind-the-scenes and artisan workshops 🤩
 
2023 - Our 1st award: Local Business Hero Award 🏆 Market stalls across Sydney spreading the word about Fair Trade & Handmade ❤️
 
I am so grateful to every single one of you for believing in what I am doing and for supporting artisans & makers so far away in other countries. You truly make me believe in the goodness people can do when they come together for a cause. Thank you 🙏🏼
